Brixworth & District U3A

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

The University of the Third Age (U3A) is an international organisation particularly aimed at the over 50 age group who are interested in social and learning activities. There are large U3A branches in Market Harborough, Northampton, Kettering and Wellingborough some of which are finding difficulties in accommodation the number of members. It was for this reason, and to meet local demand, that a new Brixworth & District U3A Branch was formed in 2007.

We now have 67 members and we meet regularly on the first Wednesday of each month at 2.00pm in the Community Room, (over the Library), Spratton Road, Brixworth. There is a guest speaker, or occasional social activity, at each meeting and tea and biscuits are served. The annual membership fee is £12.00 or there is a short term visitors fee of £2.00 per meeting.

In addition to the monthly meetings we also have a number of “Interest Groups” which are tailored to meet the needs of smaller groups. These are Rambling, Lunch Club, Genealogy, Table Games, Art, French and Local History. We will continue to add more Interest Groups as membership and demand increases.

Through our National Organisation, The Third Age Trust, there is a large range of learning opportunities offered through their website.

U3A is a successfully expanding organisation which meets the needs of, mainly, retired people who enjoy the opportunity to make new friends and get involved in new learning and social activities but our primary aim is that members should enjoy themselves.

WE INVITE YOU TO VISIT US ON THE FIRST WEDNESDAY OF EACH MONTH

NEW MEMBERS MOST WELCOME
